Hello Summer!

Shirt: Forever21
Skirt: Goodwill and hemmed
Shoes: Marshalls
So over the weekend, Coll and I got brunch. These pictures are a bit overdue since I have been focusing on finals these last few days. But today was my last one! Yay for summertime!
Anyway, I have been noticing a lot of girls wearing socks with shoes like this, and I really like the look on other people so I thought I would give it a go. It kind of reminds me of being a little girl, folding down your little white socks underneath Maryjane's. However, I am not sure if this style is really me, but I enjoyed trying out a new look.

We went to Crepes on Craig Street in North Oakland. I always would pass it and say "someday, I need to go there and try that place". So, me and Coll decided to on Sunday. I got the Black Forest crepe (dark chocolate in the middle with raspberries and whipped creme and walnuts) and Colleen got a spinach and feta cheese with vinaigrette one. And OhMyGoodnessGracious they were delicious! I am going to have to go there again. Colleen let me sample a bit of hers, and now I want to go try a savory crepe sometime.

Colleen is showing off her freshly painted nails.
And by the way, please note that Colleen's food always looks so much prettier in the photos we take. This is due to the fact that I have a tendency to dig right in as soon as the food comes because it looks so damn good, and only after I take the first bite do I remember to take photos.
Oh wells.
Either way, if you reside in the Pittsburgh area, I highly suggest this yummy place.

Final Avoidance

I should probably preface this with an apology for the lack of outfit posts.
Finals = me pretty much wearing the same hoodie and shorts for days hibernating in my apartment with flash cards and Diet Pepsi.

So I meet finals and obligations in a very different way then Steph does, her way is definitely more exciting! I have the tendency to internet shop, read even more blogs than usual, plan trips, and get caught up in James Bond and Disney movies.

Today however I decided to go on Net-A-Porter which I NEVER do because seeing pretty things that I can't afford usually depresses me. This is what I found!

Amazing prints! Its not a secret from my last post that I am in love with Versace, but how fabulous is the yellow dress? Come on. Its amazing. I love these pieces because: A. Some of them are actually affordable! and B. They have the perfect amount of simplicity mixed with spunk. Although the prints are bold the silhouettes are clean and would not overwhelm the individual. Whereas the pieces below... yikes.

I'm sorry, I would love to love these pieces but I just cannot tell a lie. Lets start with the top row: Why do designers still think that handkerchief hemlines are still okay? This is not the 90's nor is life a pre-teen dance. There is no excuse to wear these, ever! I'm not even going to start about the bedazzled halter neckline or the sequined mini with the same print my bikini in 8th grade had.

Oh line two.. I WANT to like Halston, especially lately since the brand has taken Sarah Jessica on as a creative lead, but this playsuit makes me want to vomit. I think had the neckline been lower without the sleeves I could swing it, but no. No, no, no. The Melissa Odabash is meant for Cleopatra (Although it is called "Hermione")
while the Pucci desperately wanted to be someones drapes in the 70's. It has tassels instead of sleeves!

So basically I have learned not to trust Net-A-Porter, because there is far more heinous on that site then there is pretty. I'll stick with my printless clothing and just admire Sass & Bide and Versace from afar. And I should do my work..

Let my study party commence.
Love, Coll

"Eff-Finals Friday"

I just realized that this post is kind of a thanks to my sister, since I am wearing both of these dresses thanks to her:

Dress: from my sister

Shoes: Target

Necklace: vintage

It is kind of a coincidence that she ended up giving me this dress because I remember when it was actually on Forever21's website last year and was contemplating buying it but it sold out before I could.

It is a little short, so I ended up wearing my version of spanks under it.

I had this old pair of thermal leggings that I never wear, so I cut them and they are perfect to wear under short dresses (so when the wind blow your skirt up, there is nothing to worry about). It is actually quite liberating to walk down the street in a short dress and not have to worry about keeping it down.

What is funny is that people on the street don't know I am wearing shorts underneath, so when the wind blow I get looks of apprehension.

And I know, I know, they are camo haha but it's ok because nobody has to see them.

AND I actually curled my hairs today!

Dress: Modcloth, gift from my sister
Tights: WeLoveColors
Heels: Urban Outfitters
Earrings: thrifted

So I wore this outfit yesterday when I had to give a presentation. I think it went rather well too: it was about the effects of Art Therapy on the emotions of patients and analyzing its effectiveness (in case you were wondering).

So my sister got me this dress as a Christmas gift and I think it is adorable. She actually works for Modcloth and always has the best clothes from them.

So after a week of crazy studying, I am celebrating tonight. Next week is official finals week for Pitt, but I am mostly done with alot of my work. Summer is around the corner!

So, eff-finals...I am off to drink some yummy drinks!

The Spring Spread I Can't Get Out Of My Head

Something that you wouldn't know about me unless you lived with me is that I take a ridiculous amount of time to get ready in the mornings.
I wake up early so that I have time to put music on, dance around, check some fashion websites,
try on about a thousand different combinations of outfits, and sometimes play with funky makeup.

I was in the process of doing these things this morning, but I just cant get this spread with Morena Baccarin for Instyle Magazine out of my head. I think its because shes so tan, strong, and gorgeous.

Ahhh.. I want this necklace sooo bad. I'm going shopping today with a friend, hopefully I will find something that compares!

I'm not necessarily a fan of this outfit, I like the shape well enough but the patterns and colors not so much. BUT CAN WE TALK ABOUT THESE SHOES! I'm sure in about a minute
I would fall over or else be in crazy pain, but they are beautiful.

Update! These shoes are Brian Atwood and would cost me exactly two months pay. Dare to dream.. If anyone else would like to stare wistfully at them like I am, they are available on Net-A-Porter.com with a few pictures!

The shoes.. The Earrings.. I want.. I need.

When I originally showed a friend this spread we both began screaming over this amazing yellow Versace dress. Its fabulous and its tailoring is young and creative. If I had investment money for clothing this would certainly be a piece I got.
Also, I would LOVE to cut my hair like Morena's, but I don't think I have a strong enough face.
Anyways, as I sit here procrastinating getting dressed and leaving my apartment for the day I wish that I could be a bronzed goddess like Morena.

The Big Day!

screenshots from Nylonmag.com

Nylon Magazine put Steph and I on their blog!!!
I am so incredibly excited because I have been reading Nylon since high school
and it is my favorite magazine!
And Faran called us cute!

Last night some friends and I once again embarked on our mission for a study session. I don't know why any of us pretend that we learn much studying with each other!
The Pens game was on and there were snacks and six packs to be had.
Just because I feel that I still have to explain myself - I did know the material for the exam
and it went well.

The left overs from the study sesh. Needless to say I am now fully convinced that
gummi worms, Pringles, and Diet Pepsi is the breakfast of champions!

This was my outfit today. Overall it was incredibly inexpensive (under 30$!). I have been looking at the pictures from Coachella and I am continually disappointed with Agyness Deyn! Her amazing sense of style must have been away on vacation because she was not working it.
I usually think that the Ag is fabulous, I even took her picture to the salon when going blonde and cutting my hair all off! But anyways, this is how she should have done the pink dress at Coachella as opposed to
this where she looks sickly.

These are the brother boots to the brown ones I showed earlier this week. Aka there was a sale and I decided to buy both colors because they rock.

Earrings: Macy's
Denim Vest: American Eagle
Dress: Marshall's
Boots: Macy's

I am officially done with two of my classes! All I have to do is make it one more week then I will have a glorious 10 day break before summer classes begin! I'm taking some time to myself this summer and cutting my work hours in half which will be such a relief, since I will still be attending school full time. All I can think about is how much sleep I'm going to get over my break, I can't wait.

Olive

I wore this little sweater twice this week...either I was in a very olive-colored mood or it just seemed to be the perfect item to throw on over top of these outfits. I always like to pair weird color combinations together, like: olive, lime green, and orange for instance!

Dress/tunic: Urban Outfitters

Tights: Delias

Shoes: Deena and Ozzy, Urban Outfitters

Shorts and cardigan: Forever21

Necklace: vintage, gift

LEGS
I love how comfy these wedge heels are.

Detail of the scarf my parents toted back with them from a recent visit to Thailand..it is now one of my favorites
These photos are from today:

Pardon the messy floor; I am acknowledging my filth. However, cut me some slack: it's finals week and I have alotttttt of notes.

And here is the cardigan added.
(note: I am not really as pissed-off as I look, just a bit tired.)

ALSO! I snapped a little picture while I was inside of the Carnegie Museum of Art today. I needed to visit the Daumier caricature exhibit currently on display for one of my classes.
I love these colorful stairs.
What I don't love is that each step is twice the length of a normal stride, so you have to take these weird small steps to get down it.
Fellow Pittsburghers/Carnegie Museum lovers: you know what I mean.

The More I Look At It, The Easier It Becomes

Oh you know, just some dinner, coffee, and Asian art at 3:00 am..no big deal.
So, I had a lovely weekend, and wanted to share some more current pictures of my life.
Thursday, I had a great dinner with my dad and sister and then proceeded to indulge in $1 IC Lites at our favorite dive bar in beeeeeautiful Polish Hill.

My roommate: not trying to look seductive and mysterious, but succeeding?

Under the influence and hungry.

Giant Eagle candy aisle: gets me every time.

And here we have today's outfit posts!
I met up with Colleen in between study sessions for some (much needed) Starbucks.

Shorts and top: Forever21
Tights: Target
Sweater and scarf: thrifted
Twins! Mama and baby? I don't know, but we did get the same drink, and we discovered that the price of a flavor shot is actually included in the price of an iced coffee anyway...just a heads up to caffeine-addicts.

I am still sleep deprived.
And I have two exams tomorrow.
And a paper due.
And another one on Thursday..
oh, andddd a presentation too.
LOVE finals week!

...and I have Counting Crows lyrics stuck in my head..

"if you've never stared off into the distance then your life is a shame..."

Tops: Forever
Shorts: Old Navy
Boots: Nine West

I love these boots because they were already distressed when I bought them. I think it gives them much more character.

The new earrings from my previous post!

I tore around my room yesterday morning to find a jacket to wear with this outfit that didn't make it too "Tomb Raider" or too matronly. I settled on changing to a charcoal color shirt (also Forever) and working with my navy blazer again (Banana Republic). Its a great blazer and I usually get compliments on it whenever I wear it.

I'm going to attempt to dress nicely later, but for now I'm going to work in the most pajama like items I own - well worn jeans and an equally well worn top. Later!

Memories

Due to the fact that I was forced to pull an all-nighter last night and am currently still in a state of delirium, I decided to create this compilation.
It's amazing what sleep deprivation will do to you.
I started thinking too much..about life, and memories: how they are just these fleeting moments that we try hard to remember and hold onto, but in the end we are only left with the little fragments that remain in our minds.
I know, deep stuff.
It just got me thinking about all of the wonderful moments I have had in my life so far.
Pictures can do a beautiful thing: they jog the mind, bring back emotions you felt during the time you actually were experiencing these things.
Also, I find it quite humorous that pictures of the drinks I was consuming these nights pretty much sums up the occasion. I can look at a picture of a Long Island and remember exactly how my night went.
(In this occasion, this night turned out very well!)
