Stripper Heels Go With Anything

So much like Steph I have a collection of heels that I love, but have little patience to actually wear. I've been noticing lately that more girls are attempting to wear heels to class since the weather has gotten warmer. The knees bent -walking and wincing in pain look is just not attractive. Sorry girls, props for attempting... but I have a firm rule that unless I can walk in heels as well as Victoria Beckham can, I'm not wearing them to class. But I'm dyingggg to add these two pairs to my collection.

Fendi Spring 2010. Gorgeous, amazing, surprisingly comfortable looking shoes. I want to be bronzed with a white mini dress wearing these shoes - my new summer goal. Too bad it would take me 3 months of paychecks to buy these. These beauties are going on to my "Someday I'll buy this" list right under the Marc Jacobs for Louis Vuitton Graffiti bag (in orange).

These are Gareth Pugh Spring 2010 and I have no idea why I like them. I feel like these would be the perfect shoe to wear with springs neutral and pastel trends; but I feel like simplicity would be best. I would wear these with a nude tank dress and (if my hair was long enough) a sleek ponytail with minimal makeup. Keep it fresh and let the extremism of these speak for themselves!

Wishing for shoes,
Coll!

This is an outft I wore last week: I love my huge lavendar bag..the style is somewhat uncharacteristic of something I would like, but it fits everything and the color is so pretty!

What do you think of the bigger pictures?

Layers and Mint

Shirt dress: Forever21
Tights: WeLoveColors
Boots: Ebay
Belt and scarf: thrifted
Sweater: Old Navy
Jacket: Forever21

I wore this outfit yesterday, and I suppose I was in a matchy mood. I like coordinating simple color themes together, like mints and greens and white in this example. I don't always like to match perfectly, and sometimes my color combinations can get kind of crazy, but here, I felt in a very pastel mood.
It's amazing how many compliments I get on these white leather boots. I found them on Ebay; the suede is a little worn in and the color is a bit faded, but I feel as though it adds a vintage beat-in look.

Me and Coll went to Red Oak cafe to grab dinner tonight. They have amazing food; I got an egg scrambler with avocado and feta cheese and vinaigrette and Coll got a taco salad. I love getting breakfast for dinner, and this was delicious. nom nom..great place for lunch.
so...
I am up late studying.
This mint outfit inspires me to make some mint tea.
Insomnia persists.

Reeemixxx

So this is my casual take on this outfit. I LOVE the jacket which a sales attendant at Macy's practically forced me to buy, thanks girl! And then some Jessica Simpson flats and earrings.

Haphazardly cuffed skinnies make me cringe! Just kidding. But anyways...

Jacket: Macy's
Shoes: J. Simpson
Earrings: J. Simpson
Jeans: Forever 21
Bracelets: Macy's
Sweater: Gramps
Another pair of Jessica Simpson heels! I added some serious bling bling on my wrist to dress up my grandpa's sweater.

Decided to wear heels today! This is a pretty big deal considering that it takes me at least 15 minutes to walk anywhere on campus from my apartment.

I love this flowy skirt. It makes me feel like I need to twirl around in circles when I wear it. The wind kept blowing it up today and I kept getting weird looks on the street haha..thankfully I wore my version of spanks underneath: thin cotton shorts so I didn't flash the world. I can't wait to wear it this summer with thin, airy tank tops and sandals.
Skirt: Forever21
Tights: WeLoveColors
Shoes: Marshalls
Turtleneck: Delias
Necklace: thrifted
Jacket and belt: Forever21

And this necklace is great too. I will definitely be doing a post with a close up picture of it. :)

Always Running

I have been so MIA lately I'm sorry! Usually I am running to work, then running to class, and finally just plain running out of steam and passing out. One thing that coming home to Pittsburgh has taught me is how to run for weeks straight with being up all day and out all night. Woo, being a zombie!

So I snapped this quickly the other day before running off to class. Its a strange slanted shawl collared sweater (which I wonderfully shrunk this weekend - it is now fit for a 10 year old) with my standard leather jacket. I really liked how the collars contrasted each other. But the main reason I'm posting this picture is because I'm a huge Gossip Girl fan and I thought "Oh my god I look sooo moody in this picture I could be Taylor Momsen right now, ick!"

Wait... I clearly need to break out my Courtney Love wardrobe and start chain smoking!
Okay, running to work now.

Martha Washington Was a Hip, Hip Lady

I just realized today that I will not be sleeping for the next two weeks. I have a few exams, two papers, and a huge project all due next week. At least after this, it will be (pretty much) smooth sailing until the end of the semester.
I just had to share my excitement. This is one of my favorite movies, and I have watched it innumerable times. However, until this weekend, I did not actually own it. I snatched it up at my local CD and DVD exchange store, and it is mine mine mine. Now, I can continue to watch it a million more time, anytime I please.
Dress: Urban Outfitters
Tights: Marshalls
Boots and necklace: Ebay
Belt and tank top: Forever21

I hadn't worn this dress in a long time. I wore it to the library yesterday, after digging it out of my closet. Don't you just love rediscovering old clothes and figuring out new ways to wear them again?
Later in the evening (twas a long night of work..yuck), I had a little study break, complete with chai tea, peanut butter and jelly crackers, and a little reading. Just started reading this book which I borrowed from a friend. I have yet to determine how I feel about it.
Happy Monday.

Hofbräu Weizen

Dress: thrifted and hemmed
Tights: Urban Outfitters
Shoes: thrifted
Earrings: gift, vintage
I found this great little red polka dotted dress while thrifting; it was pretty long, so I hemmed it up. My favorite parts of this dress are the slight puffiness in the shoulders and the bow around the waist. I wore it out to the Hofbräuhaus here in Pittsburgh along with these great earrings.
These were among the pieces of jewelry my good friend had given me. They share a similar style to the necklace I posted about earlier. The detail in these is so pretty.

Drink up!

Day to Night

Dress, shoes, and belt: thrifted
tights: Urban Outfitters
I wore this outfit during the day to go to class. The dress used to be a long sheath that reached down to my ankles. I discovered it at Salvation Army and knew it had potential, so I dished out a couple dollars for it and took it home to hem it. I don't own a sewing machine, so I had to hem it by hand, but I think it turned out pretty well. It has become one of my favorite dresses; I feel cute wearing it with the length being shorter and it is still very comfy to wear.
belt: Forever21
shoes: Urban Outfitters

I scored these shoes for super cheap online from Urban Outfitters. I received them in the mail a couple weeks ago and hadn't gotten around to wearing them until I saw Jen wearing them on her site. Her outfit looked great with these heels, and I soon became motivated to wear them out. I let down my hair, slipped on these heels, and went out to the local bar. These heels are surprisingly not that uncomfortable to walk in; definitely a staple that will last in my wardrobe for a while.
Check out Jen's outfit with the same heels. She looks great! http://jennifhsieh.blogspot.com/

Treasure Hunt

Just a little image to brighten your day :)
top and shorts: Forever21
tights: Marshalls
sweater: Old Navy
heels: Target
bag: Ebay

After seeing so many girls with adorable vintage leather bags, I started to develop a love for the rustic, worn look of them. I soon began an online search for one of my own. After many failed Ebay bids, I finally scored this baby; it is perfect and exactly what I was looking for. Hand-carved, tan leather, and in good vintage condition. It is the perfect size and a great spring and summer bag to use when going out: fits everything I need. I am in love.

Anyone else ever do this? I seem to always get an idea in my head of what I am looking for, and then proceed to stop at nothing until I find the perfect item.
much love,
-Steph

You're An Ocean

shirt and shorts: Forever21
boots and green tights: Ebay
plaid shirt: thrifted
necklace: vintage
My awesome friend was kind enough to give me some of his Grandma's old vintage jewelry because he knows how much I love vintage items. This beautiful necklace was among them. The detail is extraordinary and it is the perfect compliment to so many outfits!
After getting dressed, I noticed that my outfit somewhat resembled that of a topographical map or globe. The colors remind me of the blue of the oceans and green and tan of the land. Maybe it's just me that is making this connection, or maybe I was simply inspired by this idea because I was listening to the song by Fastball, You're An Ocean. Either way, plaid over shirts are still going strong in my wardrobe, and this is one of my favorites.

Standing in the Rain with a Monet Painting

Image from Harper's Bazaar April 2010

I LOVE this picture. Demi Moore is so-so but oh my god do I want to be where ever the heck she is in this picture! She is wearing all Alexander McQueen. Can you believe those shoes lost an award for innovation to a folding plug?! I haven't seen the recent collection in its entirety, but I will never forget the moment I received the text saying that Lee McQueen had passed away. He was truly brilliant.

I have always been that individual that is less than inspired until midterms or tests come up. As soon as the studying is supposed to begin all I want to do is mess with clay, pipe cleaners, spray paint, or cut stuff up. This month's subscriber's cover of Harper's Bazaar has a GORGEOUS Giraffe on it that reminded me of my poor (glow in the dark!) creation from first semester freshman year.

His head fell off because I was too impatient to let him cool coming out of the oven. Ooops. After copious amounts of Super Glue he was repaired, yet lopsided. I still think he is great.

This is my newest tattoo which looks a lot like Steph's fish Charlie! I really wanted it to appear like a watercolor and I'm very happy with the way it came out!

I also spent some time during my first semester of sophomore year creating the "art" that is on the walls of my apartment. It has always been my dream to work in the fashion industry for a magazine (The Devil Wears Prada is pretty much my dream after college, even though Andy was in hell). Although that is one day dream that will probably never come true, I have still kept almost every magazine that I've bought for the past 5 years. Because I couldn't afford real art, or bear with blank walls, my magazines are taking center stage on my walls.

I wonder what I will get into tonight since I'm trying to avoid three tests...

March Showers Bring Spring Flowers

Sweater: Forever!
Shorts: PacSun circa 2002
Leggings: Target
Rain Coat: Macy's
Wellies: Nine West

Last night the amazing thunderstorms started, but by this morning they had turned into simply a depressing downpour. I thought that it would have been really fun to throw all the primary colors together (I have a bright yellow umbrella) to spice up this gray day. Oddly the people on the street didn't agree since I got more than a few strange looks..
Dress: Forever21
tights: Urban Outfitters
boots: Ebay
vest: borrowed from Coll

In a rush to make it to class on time this morning, I quickly grabbed this from my closet and threw it on. I think subconsciously I was drawn to the floral pattern because of the springtime showers; April showers bring May flowers, but March brings daffodils and tulips too right?

Strawberries and Studying

I had two exams today, back to back. Overall, I think they went well. In order to prepare for them, I spent the better part of Sunday studying in the grass again. And I packed a picnic! Perfect weather and delicious berries and learning about ancient architecture...who could ask for more?
sweater and shoes: thrifted
tights: Urban Outfitters
shorts and top: Forever21
necklace: vintage

I love this pretty little necklace. It is one of my newer vintage acquisitions, and I love the painted floral design on the ceramic for Springtime! This bright yellow sweater is also quite new; I found it while rummaging around in Salvation army, and the obnoxiously blinding color makes me quite happy actually. Reminds me of sunshine!

Country to City

dress and jacket: Forever21
tights: Urban Outfitters

Visited my friend at her school this weekend and ended up having to drive her boyfriend to work the next day...in the sticks. It was beautiful though! I feel as though it has been way too long since I have been out in the country, and the scenery was awesome. And we saw cute little horses! I think my lack of pets at school has led me to acquire a weakness for animals...and has led me to acquire a fish named Charlie, but that's another story..
We drove back to Pitt and layed out in Schenely Plaza..it was such a gorgeous day! I am in love with springtime. This isn't much of an outfit post; I pretty much just threw something on to go outside and read, but I am so thrilled about this weather and I had to share my beautiful pictures from the day.

annnddd, the forcast for tomorrow is bright and warm, so more studying outside will be taking place!
